Situated in the Kolomna district of St. Petersburg, a peaceful part of the old city just outside the commercial center, the Alexander House Hotel overlooks the pretty Kryukov Canal, and is obnly a short walk from the world-famous Mariinskiy Theater.

Baltic and Vitebsk Stations are the nearest to the Alexander House, about ten minutes' drive away. The city's other mainline stations are further afield, but can be reached by car in 30 minutes or less. Pulkovo-1 and Pulkovo-2, St. Petersburg's airports, are about a 40-minute drive from the hotel. The nearest metro stations, Sadovaya and Sennaya Ploschad, are roughly 15 minutes' walk from the hotel.
Local sightseeing
The Mariinsky Theatre (the home of what are known in the West as the Kirov Opera and Ballet companies) is one of the most famous and well respected musical theaters in the world. Its rich history goes back to 1862, and it has witnessed performances by a galaxy of great names, including Pavlova, Nijinsky and Chaliapin.

Opposite the Mariinsky, St. Petersburg's Conservatory is renowned as the greatest musical college in Russia, and is the alma mater of numerous famous composers, including Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Shostakovich.

The St. Nicholas Cathedral, which can be seen from many of the rooms in thee Alexander House, was completes in 1762, and is commonly known as the Sailors' Church. This blue-and-white baroque masterpiece has typical gilded cupolas and onion domes, and a richly decorated interior.
