The Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic is about 10 minutes' walk from the Anabel Mini-Hotel along Ulitsa Marata. This is the only museum of its type in Russia and one of major polar museums in the world. It is home to 75,000 items dating from the 16th century to the present day.
Just around the corner from the hotel, on Liteiniy Prospekt, is the Anna Akhmatova Museum, dedicated to the life and works of one of the city's greatest poets. It is located in her former apartment, in an area which was a center of literary life in the middle of the 20th century.
Ploschad Vosstaniya, just over 10 minutes' walk from the hotel, is home to a monument to Leningrad the "hero city" - the highest Soviet state award given to cities for heroism and courage during the Second World War. In Leningrad's case, this was for surviving the almost 3-year Blockade by the Nazis.
