The main reason for choosing the Central Inn is its fantastic location just off St. Isaac's Square. Just a short walk from St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Winter Palace and the Bronze Horseman, the Central Inn is right in the center of St. Petersburg, and extremely convenient for sightseeing and shopping.
All of the city's mainline railway stations are all within half-an-hour's drive of the Central Inn. Pulkovo-1 and Pulkovo-2, the city's airports, are around forty minutes' away by car. The nearest metro station, Nevsky Prospekt, is a little over ten minutes' walk from the Central Inn.
Local sightseeing
As you leave the hotel you immediately see the imposing facades of St. Isaac's Cathedral, one of the most important buildings in St. Petersburg. The Cathedral was built in classical style by the architect Auguste de Montferrand in the 19th century. The sumptuous interiors are covered with mosaics, bronzes, and paintings. The colonnade around the Cathedral's dome provides some of the best views of the Petersburg skyline.
3 minutes' walk away is the Bronze Horseman, Etienne de Falconets' famous monument to Peter the Great. The monument is part of the city's folklore, and was immortalized in poetry by Russia's greatest poet, Alexander Pushkin. The statue was commissioned by Catherine the Great as a tribute to her illustrious predecessor on the advice of the French Enlightenment philosopher Denis Diderot.
Also visible from the hotel is the main Admiralty building. The Admiralty is the second oldest building in the city - after the Peter and Paul Fortress - and was founded by Peter the Great himself in the early 18th century as a shipyard. The building is constructed in strict Russian Empire style, and the Admiralty is a focal point for the city where three major roads - Nevsky Prospekt, Vosnesensky Prospekt, and Gorokhovaya Ulitsa - meet.
