Here at St. Petersburg Hotels, we base our rating system on a wide range of up-to-date information, which we gather from hotel publicity material, customer reviews and our own personal research. Below you'll find an outline of what you can expect from each class of hotel you'll find on our website.
Our Luxury hotels are mostly 5-star and offer the finest accommodation and customer service available in St. Petersburg. They feature elegant and sumptuous interiors, grandiose public areas and exquisitely decorated rooms and suites. Room amenities typically include TV with satellite channels, personal in-room safe, mini-bar, refrigerator and private bathroom often with bidet and Jacuzzi. Guests can expect an excellent choice of suites, with many offering a dining room, study, or meeting room. You will find a strong emphasis on personal service and hospitality throughout the hotel and alert, impeccably trained, English-speaking staff. Luxury hotels provide an extensive range of services, usually including 24-hour room service, fitness and beauty centers, a concierge service and 24-hour valet parking. Guests will benefit from a range of top-quality restaurants, offering imaginative menus of superbly prepared gourmet Russian, European and often Asian specialties. Luxury hotels are invariably located in the center of St. Petersburg, on or near the city's famous main street, Nevsky Prospekt.
Superior hotels are typically large 3 or 4-star establishments, offering spacious modern accommodation and a good range of services and facilities, with an emphasis on families and corporate clients. These hotels invariably feature modern public areas with tasteful decorations and furnishings, and similarly decorated rooms and suites. Standard room amenities will usually include TV with satellite channels, mini-bar and private bathroom with bath, shower and WC and occasional hairdryer. Superior hotel suites are spacious, but less luxuriously furnished than their deluxe counterparts, and the majority will feature the above amenities plus refrigerator, writing desk and modem port. These hotels offer a broad range of services, typically including room service (but necessarily 24 hours), health center, in-house medical center, a non-smoking floor (aimed at families) and a service bureau offering tours and excursions around the city. Business facilities will usually include a corporate service center and various conference and seminar rooms, and often a dedicated VIP or business floor with extra facilities for corporate guests. Superior hotels tend to offer a limited range of reasonably priced dining options and will usually be situated just outside the center of St. Petersburg, further from the city's major tourist attractions.
Standard hotels are typically very reasonably priced medium-sized 2 or 3-star venues, offering simply furnished modern accommodation and a limited range of basic customer services and facilities. In the majority of Standard hotels rooms and public areas will be spacious and unsophisticated in design and tend to feature minimal or rather dated fixtures and furnishings. Room amenities are usually limited to satellite TV, the occasional mini-bar and a basic private bathroom with bath, shower and WC. Standard hotels tend to offer a narrow choice of suites and provide a limited selection of services, usually including basic room service, tour bureau and health facilities. Corporate services will usually be limited to a small business center offering international telephone and fax communications and perhaps Internet access, and usually a small number of conference and meeting rooms. Dining options will be basic but excellent value and guests can normally expect the hotel to be located on the outskirts of the city center, but with reasonable access to the metro.
Budget hotels tend to be 1 to 2-star quality and offer very basic, clean accommodation at very affordable prices. These hotels usually feature few public areas and rooms tend to be comfortable but small and sparsely furnished. Suite choices are usually limited if available at all and the majority of rooms feature just TV (without satellite channels) and local telephone connection. General client services and facilities will be basic and probably offer only limited room service, reception desk hours and hotel access to non-guests. Corporate services are likely to be similarly limited and dining options are usually few but very reasonably priced, with a greater emphasis on local rather than foreign cuisine. Budget hotels tend to be located outside the city center, in quieter more residential districts, but with reasonable access to public transport.
