Park Inn Pulkovskaya Hotel: Location & Directions

Address: 1, Ploschad Pobedy, St. Petersburg, 196240
Nearest metro: Moskovskaya
The Park Inn Pulkovskaya Hotel was built to service St. Petersburg's two Pulkovo airports, and hence is situated in the far south of the city, almost on the city limits. The surrounding area, which centers on Moskovskiy Prospekt, was developed in the post-war years as a sort of Soviet town-planning showpiece, with bombastic Stalinist architecture and numerous public monuments, the most prominent of which is the panoramic war memorial with underground museum directly opposite the hotel.

Although a long way from the center, the Pulkovskaya has good transport links. Moskovskaya Metro Station is only five minutes' walk from the hotel, and trains run directly to Nevsky Prospekt in a little over 20 minutes. There are also numerous bus services running from directly outside the hotel to the center, and the Pulkovskaya provided guests with its own shuttle service to/from the center, running every couple of hours between 10am and 8pm.

All St. Petersburg's mainline stations are a good distance from the Pulkovskaya, and will take at least forty minutes to reach by car. The airports, on the other hand, are very close to the hotel, and, unless there are serious traffic problems, it should take no more than 15 minutes to reach Pulkovo-2, and 20 to Pulkovo-1.
Local sightseeing
Directly opposite the main entrance to the Pulkovskaya Hotel stands the Monument to the Defenders of Leningrad, a huge panoramic memorial to those who died in the 900-day Siege of Leningrad, constructed in the 1970s. Underneath the memorial is a a large hall containing a museum documenting the Blockade.

Within 30 minutes' drive of the Pulkovskaya, the town of Pushkin, formally Tsarskoe Selo, contains the fabulous Catherine and Alexander Palaces. The former was built for Catherine I by the Italian court architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and houses the celebrated Amber Room within its glorious blue-and-white Baroque facade. The extensive park is a delightful place for strolling in the summer, and the town is also the sight of the former Tsar's Lycee, whose most famous pupil was Alexander Pushkin.

A little further down the road from Pushkin, the Pavlovsk Palace, built for Paul I, is much smaller than the Catherine Palace, but is surrounded by a beautiful park laid out in the style of an English landscape garden, with beautiful trees and numerous attractive follies. Both Pushkin and Pavlovsk are perennially popular with visitors to St. Petersburg, especially during the summer months.
