Formerly known as the Sovietskaya, this large mid-range hotel dates back to the sixties, but has recently been bought up by the Azimut chain of Russian business hotels. Once an Intourist favorite, the hotel is undergoing total renovation, and already offers a number of smart, international standard rooms, as well as extensive business and conferencing facilities. The hotel enjoys a picturesque location on the banks of the Fontanka River, although it is a little way from the very center of the city. » |

The Moscow Hotel has long been popular with tourists as a reliable 3-Star option in the heart of St. Petersburg with excellent access to the city's main attractions. Located at the far end of Nevksy Prospekt, and right on top of a metro station, the Moskva has simple, clean rooms, and a wide range of services. Unrenovated rooms are basic, but very cheap for the center. » |

Another mid-range Soviet-era monolith, the St. Petersburg has some of the best views in the city, and offers adequate standard accommodation and the usual range of services. The hotel has a choice of mid-range, modern rooms, and cheap unrenovated budget accommodation. Centrally located, it is a little distance from the metro. The walk, however, is spectacular. » |

The Russ Hotel is tucked away in a small side street halfway between Chernyshevskaya metro station and the city's famous central Liteyny Prospekt. Its rooms are clean, comfortable and affordable and although in-house dining options are somewhat limited, the Hotel is not far from the restaurants and cafes of the city's bustling Nevsky Prospekt. Unfortunately, the hotel's design failed to take into consideration disabled access, so we would not recommend the Russ to severely handicapped visitors. » |

This small, cottage-style hotel is situated just outside the tourist center of St. Petersburg in quiet but historical residential area. The Matisov Domik has won several awards for its welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and simple but comfortable rooms. The hotel also has good business facilities for its size, with a fully equipped conference hall. Although not particularly central, the Matisov Domik is convenient for music lovers, with the Mariinskiy Theater and the St. Petersburg Conservatory a short walk away. » |
